Gajar ka Halwa
Indulge in a dreamy creamy dessert that’s perfect for cold seasons. Gajar ka Halwa is a traditional Indian sweet dish made with carrots, dry nuts and sugar to offer a rich, melt in your mouth treat for kids and adults. Also known as Gajrela. This carrot pudding can be eaten warm or cold. Some enjoy hot Gajar ka Halwa with a big dollop of vanilla ice cream.

Firstly, Soak the rice in water for 1 hour
Once that is done boil the milk, add the washed rice and simmer for ½ an hour.
Add finely grated carrots and cook slowly for 2 hours or till thick and mushy.
Add the cream and flavourings.
Sweeten with condensed milk or sugar, your choice.
Finally, decorate with slivered almonds and pistachios.
- 1 ½ litre milk
- ½ kg grated carrot
- 1 tin cream
- Slivered almonds and pistachios
- ½ cup rice
- Elachi
- Rose water
- Sugar or condensed milk (for sweetening)
